• This course will introduce you to the Unix command line and carry you through to a basic understanding of how to set up and maintain a Unix/Linux server.
    The first half of the course covers common Unix commands, shell scripting, regular expressions, tools and the applications used in a Unix programming environment. The tools to be introduced include make utility, a debugger, advanced text editing and text processing (vi, sed, tr).
    The second half of the course will shift the perspective to that of the system administrator. Our focus will be administering Unix from the command line -- no graphical environment will be discussed.
  • Investigative techniques, evidence handling procedures, forensic tools, digital crime reconstruction, and legal guidelines. Case studies cover a range of hardware and software platforms.
